The kick-off of the UCANDATA / SENTRAC project, started this month with the partners Van den Borne Potatoes, Fleuren Boomkwekerij, Abemec, Euphoria \ Cabman and Beijer Automotive, was the starting signal for the deployment of a fleet of taxis (approx. 500) and agricultural vehicles. The aim of the project is to realize a testing ground in which Probe Vehicle Data, sensor data from cars and sensor data from agricultural vehicles are brought together in a large open database in the cloud (Vetuda®). With this data, weather and traffic warnings, applications for traffic centers or agricultural applications for precision agriculture can then be developed. Partners and potential users can then add data, recover data and / or develop services.
This project, which is partly realized with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union and the province of Noord-Brabant, should ultimately lead to an internationally operating open Big Data platform. Initially focused on the automotive and agricultural sector, soon followed by the logistics sector.
