 Internship at Van den Borne Potatoes

Van den Borne Potatoes is an innovative company and therefore a very instructive company to do an internship. You not only see the novelties that are still in the research phase, but you also get to know a lot of new people who can help you with your questions.

During my internship it was the assignment to scan as many parcels as possible, both at the company itself and at third parties. This also introduced me to the Dualem-21S bottom scanner. This assignment ran in conjunction with my bachelor thesis: "The applications of soil scans in precision agriculture".

At the company I also had other tasks such as: testing and working with the Sensorlex Sam-1 pH meter, planting potatoes and helping with the company presentations. During the quieter periods, I was allowed to join company visits and meetings. For example, I visited some interesting companies such as: AVR (Roeselare), ORBit (Ugent), Keygene (Wageningen), Eijkelkamp (Giesbeek), Proboiq (Andelst), Novifarm (Numansdorp).

The company taught me that in order to move forward you should not only look in your own sector, but also sometimes look outside your sector.
